Per's life outside of Triathlon...
Home - Sweden
Per was born and grew up in a beautiful town north of Stockholm called Falun in Sweden. It is most famous for a UNESCO heritage site Falu Gruva (an old copper mine that was the economic powerhouse of Sweden in the 17th ), and hosting ski games.
Starting with Skiing
Per started cross-country skiing when he was 14. Per joined a small club in his hometown called Falu IK and represented the club in various domestic competitions. Per's talent was spotted in long distance (45 & 90km) skiing, and he finished at the top 200th position in his debut in the international cross-country skiing competition Vasaloppet at the age of 18.
Skiing to Triathlon
Per's initial encounter with triathlon happened when he was 16 years old. His skiing coach made his team swim as a part of the training program during the summer. "I cam from a non-swimming background, so I could barely do more than breaststroke. Despite this, I decided to compete in a local triathlon race that summer. I came second to the last and that was the beginning of my triathlon career."
Baking is a relaxing hobby to do with others, takes your mind off studying and training. My favorites are apple and pecan pies :)
"Running has always been the strongest component in triathlon for me. My intention for the 2016 is to prepare myself with several running competitions beginning with Cambridge 1/2 marathon."
